Kelsey Fisher 

Jim Oleson Scholarship in Entomology

The Jim Oleson Scholarship in Entomology provides scholarships for one undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Insect Science or Entomology per year. Scholarships are for one year but may be renewed for additional years. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic promise and initiative and hence a minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required. Recent past award recipients were Teresa Blader in 2016, Edmund Norris in 2017, and Ashley St. Clair in both 2018 & 2019.

Wayne A. Rowley Scholarship in Entomology 

The Wayne A Rowley Scholarship in Entomology provides scholarships for one undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Entomology per year. The scholarships are open to students with Sophomore or higher class standing. Scholarships are for one year but may be renewed for up to three additional years. Selection is based on academic standing and promise for a career in entomology. The first preference shall be to applicants concentrating on medical entomology. Recent past award recipients were Rebekah Reynolds in 2016, 2017, & 2018, and Eleanor Field in 2019.

Entomology Alumni Scholarship 

The Entomology Alumni Scholarship provides scholarships for one undergraduate or graduate student in the Department of Entomology per year. This award is open to all majors within the department. Selection is based on scholarship, leadership potential, extracurricular activities, work and community experience, and a promise for a career in Entomology. Recent past award recipients were Eric Clifton in 2016, Ashley St. Clair in 2017, Kelsey Fisher in 2018, and Ashley St. Clair in 2019.

Larry Pedigo Graduate Scholarship in Entomology 

The Larry Pedigo Graduate Scholarship in Entomology provides scholarships for one graduate student majoring in Entomology per year. Scholarships are for one year but may be renewed for additional years. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of scholarly performance. Evidence of scholarly performance may include but is not limited to: participation in academic, scholarly, or professional organizations; elections to honor societies; or receipt of academic awards or honors.  Recent past award recipients were Edmund Norris in 2016 & 2017, Ashley St. Clair in 2018, and Kelsey Fisher in 2019. 

Niranjana Krishnan

Jean L. Laffoon Memorial Scholarship 

The Jean L. Laffoon Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Laffoon who was a member of the Entomology Faculty (Systematist) from 1946 to 1973. The scholarship provides scholarships for one graduate student enrolled in the Department of Entomology per year. This award is open to all majors within the department. Scholarships are for one year but may be renewed for additional years. A minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a scale of 4.0 is required.  Recent past award recipients were Coy St. Clair in 2016, Niranjana Krishnan in 2017, Ashley Dean in 2018,  and Maura Hall in 2019.  

 

Henry and Sylvia Richardson Research Incentive Grant

Recent past award recipients were Colin Wong in 2018 and Niranjana Krishnan in 2019. Grant was not offered in 2016, 2017, or 2020.
