Abstract: How an animal behaves can have a profound impact on how well the animal adapts to a changing environment, how well they promote the fitness of their offspring, and how they interact with the other animals in their community. I focus on insect mating behavior because I am fascinated by the decisions that bring individuals together and the impact those choices have on a population. Here I will present the results of two projects that involve the functional significance of an acoustic courtship behavior, and the proximate mechanism of a post-mating behavior.
