Bt sweet corn and selective insecticides: Impacts on pests and predatorsAuthors: Musser, F.R.; Shelton, A.M.
Journal, Volume, Year: Horticultural Entomology, volume 96(1):71-80, 2003
Summary
Examined the use of Bt sweet corn, foliar insecticides indoxacarb and spinosad, or the pyrethroid lamda-cyhalothrin. Found that the first three methods were all less toxic to non-target predators than the pyrethroid, but that the indoxacarb was somewhat toxic to coccinellids and Orius insidiosus and spinosad was somewhat toxic to O. insidiosus. Bt and spinosad were effective for control of pests. |
Good comparison to alternatives. Context of use is important.
