Summary

Beef and dairy cattle were fed Bt corn silage (early and late maturing varieties). No effect of the Bt trait was observed on milk production, ruminal pH, acetate:proprionate ratio, or in situ digestion kinetics of NDF. Treatments fed early maturing varieties had greater total VFA concentration and greater milk production. For steers, there were no grazing preferences and no body weight differences. Treatmenst fed early maturing varieties had faster weight gain.
