Effects of Bacillus thuringiensis toxins in transgenic cotton and potato on Folsomia candida (Collembola: Isotomidae and Oppia nitens (Acari: Oribatidae)Authors: Yu, L., Berry, R.E., Croft, B.A.

Summary
Effects of Btk HD-1 Cry1Ab and Btk HD-73 Cry1Ac in cotton and potato plants on collembola and oribatid mites were evaluated. No effects on time to oviposition, egg production, or final body weight of collembola were observed when fed transgenic cotton. Similarly, oribatid mite production was not affected when fed leaves of transgenic cotton. |
This was a good study evaluating the effects that Bt toxins, expressed by transgenic crops, have on non-target species. This study also was carefully done using good QA/QC.
