Summary

Two Collembolans, Folsomia candida and Xenylla grisea, were fed four Bt proteins at 200 ug Bt protein/g yeast (Cry 1A9(b), Cry 1A(c), CryIIA, and CryIIIA) incorporated in a diet of Baker's yeast for a 21-day exposure. None of the treatments significantly reduced survival of adults vs. the yeast control.

Comments

Strongly indicates that the four Bt's tested are unlikely to have acute toxic effects to springtails. The test concentration of protein used was greater than in plants. However, chronic effects were not evaluated and transgenic Bt was not used.
