The toxicity of two Bacillus thuringiensis delta-endotoxins to gypsy moth larvae is inversely related to the affinity of binding sites on midgut brush border membranes for the toxins

The increased potency to gypsy moth larvae of Btk strain HD1-9 compared to strain HD-73 was determined to be caused by the greater binding affinity of HD-73 to the brush border membrane of larval gypsy moth midguts.
Evaluation of toxicity versus binding affinity is interesting.
