Soybean leaf miner: Pathogens transmitted

The soybean leaf miner can efficiently transmit Bean pod mottle virus (Werner et al. 2003). In their study they found that 60% of soybean leaf miners can transmit BPMV from infected plants to uninfected plants. Soybean leafminers may be part of a large disease-carrying complex of vectors in soybean considering that they are sometimes present early in the growing season and they can also feed on and acquire BPMV from wild hosts (e.g., Desmodium spp.) (Bradshaw et al. 2007).
