Dr. Siva R K Jakka

Postdoc Research Associate

My research is focused on development of insect resistance to Bt crops, monitoring of field evolved Bt resistance, molecular and genetic level characterization of Bt resistance, cross-resistance patterns of Bt toxins, fitness costs associated with Bt resistance in Lepidopteran and Coleopteran insect pests and their integrated resistance management.
My present post-doctoral Research aimed to identify field evolved resistance in corn rootworm to Bt corn hybrids expressing Cry3Bb1, mCry3A, eCry3.1Ab1, and Cry34Ab1/Cry35Ab1 toxins, genetic level characterization of Bt resistance, Bt toxins cross-resistance patterns, and fitness costs associated with Bt resistance, apply integrated pest management (IPM) principles to improve corn rootworm control strategies and its resistance management.
