Abstract: Candidates work hard to craft the image of their personality presented to voters. They spend millions of dollars and large amounts of their time in an effort to project as possible to project a very specific sense of who they are. Academic research on the topic takes a very skeptical view of these efforts. Election winners and losers, scholars hold, result from fundamentals like the economy and the partisan balance on the country. In this work, I demonstrate the power of the media in crafting the image of who the candidates are and that these images are partially responsible for who wins in November.
