The Slow Motion Invasion of California by Multiple Species of Tropical Fruit Flies

Monday, September 17th at 4:10pm, in E164 Lagomarcino Hall
James R. Carey, Department of Entomology and Nematology, UC Davis, CA
Abstract: This presentation will be based on recent work that follows Carey's 1991 Science paper on medfly establishment in California. Carey will report on a very interesting, important but sure-to-be controversial discovery based on a remarkable long term data set with records of 16 tephritid species detected, 10 of which are currently invading the state.
