In the near future, improved management of insect pests will rely largely on novel biologically based agents. Recent advances in this field of study include natural products from plants or microbes, as well as living pathogens and transgenic crops. This symposium will focus on 8 areas of novel biological insect suppression agents. It will include speakers from industry, government and universities. It is not intended to be all-inclusive of the new technologies being developed, but will highlight some of the new approaches that are now, or will soon be, commercially available for producers to use in plant protection.
