One of the most commonly used insecticides in cucurbits is carbaryl. Although it is commonly used, its loss would not have much of an impact on cucurbit production. Pyrethroids give very good control of cucumber beetles. Aphids are controlled by endosulfan and mites with kelthane. Loss of carbofuran may have some effect on early season protection from seedcorn maggot and striped cucumber beetle. However, this impact should be very small in the Midwest as carbofuran is now used only in Indiana and Illinois. While the loss of dimethoate should not greatly impact control of aphid or mites, its loss would limit growers in their choice of control.
