Suggestions To Better Serve Membership:

Send out addresses of all entomology departments in academia and industry.
Publish a list of best books in entomology.
Provide a forum for philosophical discussions of issues that affect teaching and adoption of desirable practices; not just technical discussions.
Provide more opportunities for small group discussions at the Branch meetings with interaction on insects and topics of mutual interest.
Provide awareness of the need for and benefits of directly applied research, both with university administrations and the general public.
Begin a process of cultivating an environment of public service rather than "ivory tower" research within our academic departments.
Assure that everyone's needs are being met or addressed in proportion to their size in the population as a whole.

How can the North Central Branch better help you accomplish your mission?

By providing a format, whereby, I can gather information from other entomologists that I can relay to my clientele.
An extension entomology display and exchange of current educational materials (slides, fact sheets, bulletins, video, software) held every 3-4 years would be extremely valuable.
Involvement of "external customers" may be helpful in reassessing our perspectives, but the ESA can best serve external customers by serving its members.
Keep me informed of new developments in Entomology. Specifically corn insect-plant resitance will help me furnish technical support to our corn breeding program.
Help identify problems (research) and people from related areas of interest and expertise to form goals oriented research.
The meetings are an important venue for exchanging information of new insecticides or other insect control products and methods.
The Society is also an important source for me to stay abrest of other more basic developments in the field of entomology.
