Regal Fritillary Butterfly

The regal fritillary butterfly (Speyeria idalia), once common across the northeastern half of the U.S., is rapidly vanishing and is rare or local throughout its reduced range. The regal fritillary can be protected through conservation of its habitat (prairie remnants and wetlands) and the caterpillar host plants (prairie violets).

Last year's logo was the American Burying Beetle.
