Dr. Darlyne Murawski, Harvard University, will give a special presentation to the entomologists of the North Central Branch and the general public on Sunday, March 8, 8:00 PM, Ramkota Inn, Sioux Falls, SD. The title of her presentation is, "Butterflies and moths: The joys of discovery."
Dr. Murawski has professional training in both art and biology, with degrees from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (BFA and MFA) and the University of Texas (PhD). She currently works as a free-lance nature photographer and writer, and as a research associate at Harvard University (in plant systematics). Her photography has appeared in National Geographic Magazine, Smithsonian Magazine, Natural History Magazine, Ranger Rick, Geo, Terre Sauvage, and in books such as E.O. Wilson's "Diversity of Life", M. Berger's "Insect Lives", and "The World of Reptiles", which she authored.
Examples of her work may be seen in National Geographic, March 1997, "Moths come to light," October 1997, "Parasites - looking for a free lunch", and a December 1993 article on heliconiid butterflies.
