The 1998 INSECT EXPO will be held on 11 March, at the Ramkota Inn, Sioux Falls, SD. This exposition is the public portion of the professional conference for the Entomological Society of America, North Central Branch. The INSECT EXPO will be open from 10:00 am to 2:00 p.m. Traditionally, the INSECT EXPO is provided as an experience for students and the public to encounter insects and related arthropods.

You and your students are invited to attend and participate in the educational displays, demonstrations, and exhibits at the INSECT EXPO. Should you plan a class outing, we ask only that you register with us so that a plan can be made for staggered attendance of classes.

The INSECT EXPO will contain both static and interactive displays and demonstrations that allow and require student participation. Following are examples of some of the activities being planned:

• a display of native and exotic insects and related organisms,
• BUG BOWL, a quiz game,
• butterflies of South Dakota,
• educational materials for display and purchase,
• insect foods exhibits and cooking demonstration,
• organic gardening displays,
• 4-H entomology displays,
• insect art,
• live bee colony, live cockroaches, live tarantulas, and other critters,
• and a variety of games and activities for students
