Digital Presentation Made Easy: Guidelines to Make Your Experience Less Stressful

A Digital Projector in Every Meeting Room

Local Arrangements will provide digital projectors and notebook computers (Windows only) for your use in all symposium and paper sessions. To insure that speakers can strictly adhere to the program schedule, we request that you submit a presentation file electronically to the local Arrangements Committee prior to the meeting. Your presentation will be loaded onto a computer and ready to launch prior to the start of your session.

Acceptable File Formats

All presentations should be prepared using PowerPoint97 for Windows 95/98/NT.   Be cautious in your selection of fonts, choose something that will be installed on the computer, we suggest Arial or Times New Roman.

Submit Electronically

We have established an FTP site,  for you to submit your presentation file(s).  Presenters who've previously indicated their need for a digital projector will shortly receive an e-mail with the FTP address, user name and password required to access this site. To request the user name and password e-mail Janet Moe, Local Arrangments. Please, do not send your presentation file(s) as e-mail attachments without first contacting Janet.  Use an FTP program (Fetch or WinFTP) or Internet Explorer to upload, not Netscape (there's a bug in the server that doesn't like Netscape for FTPing). We request that your presentation file(s) be submitted electronically to us by 20 March.

What If You Bring Your Own Computer?

We will strictly adhere to the program schedule so we are requesting that your presentation file be submitted electronically to the local Arrangements Committee prior to the meeting. Because of compatibility issues, we are not permitting "hot-synch" swapping of laptops during the paper sessions. For those who do not upload your file via our ftp site, we will have a computer available in the Audio Visual Room (Rotary) between 5:30 and 6:30 pm each day. Here you can upload your presentation and we will transfer it to the appropriate laptop by the following morning. Your presentation must be on removable media (Zip, LS-120, or 3.5" floppy disks). We cannot directly cable two laptops for file transfer using software such as Lap Link because of software security and compatibility issues.

If you have any questions, please contact Janet Moe.
