Awards and Scholarships for Undergraduate Students
The following scholarships are available to undergraduate students at Iowa State University. They are listed here by funding source.

Scholarships for entering freshmen are offered on a funds-available basis:
Entomology Alumni Scholarship
The Entomology Alumni Scholarship provides scholarships of $500 for one incoming undergraduate student in Entomology per year. The scholarships are open to both incoming freshmen and transfer students who plan to major in entomology. Selection is based on scholarship, leadership potential, extracurricular activities, work and community experience, and on promise for a career in Entomology. The Student Awards and Scholarships Committee will select awardees.
Applicants should send a cover letter describing their career goals, and a résumé including information on academic training (including GPA, ACT/SAT score), activities and leadership information, and work experience.

Wayne A. Rowley Scholarship
The Wayne A Rowley Scholarship in Entomology provides scholarships of $1,500 for one undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Entomology per year. The scholarships are open to students with Sophomore or higher class standing. Scholarships are for one year, but may be renewed for up to three additional years. First preference shall be to applicants concentrating on medical entomology. The Student Awards and Scholarships Committee will recommend awardees to the Chair of the Department of Entomology.
Applicants should send a cover letter describing their career goals, and a résumé including information on academic training (including GPA, ACT/SAT score), activities and leadership information, and work experience. Entomology Student Award for Outstanding Service
The purpose of this award is to recognize the contributions of Entomology undergraduate students to the Department and University, through outreach events such as Butterfly House displays at VEISHEA, and the Insect Horror Film Festival. Involvement in such events enhances development of professional skills beyond academic achievement, such as communication and organizational abilities, and service to the University and Entomology Club.
Awards will be available for one undergraduate student each year. Awardees will receive a plaque and $50 at the Entomology Holiday Party. A student may only receive the award once.
Applications should include curriculum vitae including current GPA and details of service to the Department and University, along with a letter of support from a member of the Entomology Faculty. A GPA of 2.75 or higher is required. The Student Awards and Scholarships Committee will select awardees.
Applications should be sent to Dr. Bryony Bonning, Chair, Student Awards and Scholarships Committee, 418 Science II, by 5 pm on 1 November.

ENTOMOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF AMERICA
ESA Undergraduate Scholarship/BioQuip
BioQuip sponsors a $2,000 scholarship, and The Entomological Foundation sponsors several $1,500 scholarships to undergraduate students. The scholarships are designed to encourage student interest in Entomology. Applications due July 1.

Stanley Beck Fellowship
Annual fellowship of $4,000 to assist needy students at graduate and undergraduate level. Need may be based on physical limitations, or economic, minority or environmental conditions.

Pioneer Hi-Bred International Graduate Student Fellowship
Pioneer Hi-Bred International (a DuPont Company) sponsors a graduate student fellowship on the basis of recognizing and encouraging innovative research and graduate education in the area of entomology with a focus on key insects or complexes of insects that effect corn, soybeans, canola, alfalfa, or other significant commodity crops.
