Department Position: Professor emeritus
Dr. Lewis' research centers on the systematics and host/parasite relationships of the Siphonaptera fauna of the world. He has studied the fauna of the Middle Eastern countries and Nepal, and is now concentrating on fauna of North and South America. His immediate goal is to complete a monograph on the Siphonaptera of North America, north of Mexico. In addition, he is actively involved in cooperative studies with colleagues in Russia and China, as well as the British Museum (Natural History) and the United States National Museum of Natural History. He also is involved with mammal studies in Brazil and Argentina conducted by investigators at Oklahoma State University and Johns Hopkins University.
