Using Your Learning JournalSince this is an online class, what better way to communicate with the rest of the class than by having your own Learning Journal, where you respond to what you're learning online? If you visit the Entomology 201 home page you'll notice that there is now a link under the heading "Learning Journals" (or will be the first day of class). Here's how to get going with your Journal: 1. On the course home page, click on the link entitled "Read or post to your Journal". 2. Look at the scary message that tells you "Access denied." That's because we only want class members, not the general public, reading our Learning Journals. 3. Click on Log In link at the left. 4. Fill in your Iowa State University NetID and password. If you have entered them successfully, you will end up on the Learning Journals page. 5. Click on the "New Journal entry" link to make the first entry in your Learning Journal. This entry should introduce you, telling us where you're from, why you're taking the class, and what you hope to learn in this class. As you go through the online material each week (by clicking on the week's topic on the course home page) you will run across assignments that will instruct you to post to your learning journal. Feel free to post other things to your journal, too. For example, if you run across something on the web that you think would be interesting for the class, post it! And feel free to comment on other student's journal entries as well. Keep an eye on the instructor's Learning Journal, as it's where things that are important to this class, like information about upcoming quizzes, get posted.
